Posting a Listing
Login/create an account
The login section is located at the upper right hand corner of the homepage. To Login, a user account must first be created.
To create an account a user can click the “Sign Up” button located underneath the Bazaarstuff logo on the home page. Though the username and email address are mandatory, a user can additionally enter optional information and click “ok” at the bottom of the sign up page. Next the user will receive a notification email with instructions to finalize the create user account process.
How do I post a listing?
To post a listing the user must first be logged into their account. After logging in, the user can click on the “Post your listing” link from the Bazaarstuff homepage. All listings are completely FREE. When posting, the user has the option to input a college and a zip code (city and state will automatically appear as the zip code is typed in), so that the public can filter their searches according to those networks.
How do I edit a listing?
When logged in, a user can click the “My Account” dropdown, then click “My Listings” followed by the “modify” link to edit a certain listing.
When will my listing expire?
All listings expire after 30 days from the date posted.
How do I delete a listing?
The quickest way to delete a listing is for the user to first login, then click the “My Account” dropdown, followed by the “My Listings” link. Next the user must click the delete link next to the listing they want to remove.
Can I add a picture to my listing?
Up to 6 pictures can be added when creating a listing.
Does it cost to post a listing?
All listings are 100% free to post.
Search
Search by college
To search by college a user must first type in the name of the item in the “Find…” search box and can next start typing in the college name in the college search box. The database will automatically complete the college name as letters are typed. Click the search button to narrow the search according to the above criteria.
Search by zip
To search by zip code a user must first click the “Zip” button underneath the “Location” search box. Next type in the name of the item in the “Find...” search box and begin typing the zip code in the “Location” search box. The database will automatically complete the zip code as the numbers are typed. Click the search button to narrow the search according to the above criteria.
Search by city
To search by city a user must first click the “City” button underneath the “Location” search box. Next type in the name of the item in the “Find...” search box and begin typing the city in the “Location” search box. The database will automatically complete the city name as the letters are typed. Click the search button to narrow the search according to the above criteria.
Search by state
To search by state a user must first click the “State” button underneath the “Location” search box. Next type in the name of the item in the “Find...” search box and begin typing the state in the “Location” search box. The database will automatically complete the state as the letters are typed. Click the search button to narrow the search according to the above criteria.
Advanced Search
In the advanced search link located underneath the search button, users can filter searches by price range, date of creation, college, location, description, or by user. The user also has the option of searching for items with pictures or without pictures. Finally, the user has the option to narrow the search if any or all of the above criteria is met.
Change Password
When logged in, the user can change their password through the “My Profile” link in the “My Account” dropdown.
Forgot Password
If a user has forgotten their password, they can click the “Forgot Password?” link on the upper right of the homepage. After following the given steps, a temporary password will be sent to the users email. Once they have been given a password, the user can login with that password and change the password to one of their own through the “My Profile” link in the “My Account” dropdown.
My Account
My profile
Allows users to edit their personal information.
My subscriptions
Shows the categories that a user has subscribed to.
Subscribe to category
Once in a category, a user can click “Notify me when new listings are submitted in this category” in the gray toolbar above the displayed listings.
My listings
A user can manage their listings in the “My listings” link under the “My Account” dropdown
Modify
By clicking “Modify” a user can edit listings they have posted
Add to favorites
By clicking “Add to favorites” a user can add that listing to his or her favorites page. The favorites link appears only when a user is logged into Bazaarstuff.
Delete
The “Delete” link will delete that listing.
Favorites
When logged in, a user will see a yellow star with a “Favorites” link that will display the favorite listings of that user.
To add a listing to the “Favorites” page, a user must click “add to favorites” link after the search results for a listing appears.
Logout
When signed in, the user can logout by clicking the “Logout” link in the upper right hand corner.
Communicating
Commenting on a listing
To comment on a listing, click into a listing by clicking on either the image of the item, or the title of the listing. The user will notice a comment section within the item details at the bottom of the page. The user must enter a name and email after clicking the “Post As..” button. Finally, a user has the option to have comment notifications sent to their email with the “subscribe to all comments” checkbox and clicking the “Post comment” button to finalize the process.
Messaging a user
To message a user, one can click the “Send Message” link located under the item details of a listing.
Email a friend
To email a listing to a friend, one can click the “Email a friend” link located under the item details of a listing.
Notifications
Email notifications will be included for all messages and category subscriptions. Comment email notifications will only be sent if the “subscribe to all comments” checkbox is checked when posting a comment.
